The government of Gilgit-Baltistan has announced that it will host an international investment conference in July 2025, aiming to attract foreign and domestic investors to explore the region’s untapped economic potential. The conference will take place in Gilgit and is expected to bring together diplomats, business leaders, development experts, and representatives from international financial institutions.
Chief Minister Haji Gulbar Khan made the announcement during a high-level meeting in Islamabad, where he invited Pakistani embassies abroad and international trade missions to facilitate participation. The goal of the conference is to showcase investment opportunities in tourism, hydropower, minerals, agriculture, information technology, and infrastructure development.
Officials say that the event will include presentations, exhibitions, and networking sessions where investors can meet local entrepreneurs, government officials, and community leaders. Delegates will also be offered field visits to key sites across Gilgit-Baltistan, including areas identified for tourism resorts, hydroelectric projects, and mineral exploration.
Gilgit-Baltistan, with its strategic location along the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), rich natural resources, and stunning landscapes, is being positioned as a gateway to regional trade and sustainable investment. However, the region still faces challenges such as limited infrastructure, seasonal access, and a need for better legal and regulatory frameworks. The upcoming conference aims to address these concerns by offering clear policy briefings, incentives, and government-backed support for investors.
The investment conference is part of a broader vision to transform Gilgit-Baltistan into an economic hub that not only generates employment for its people but also contributes to national growth. Special economic zones, cross-border trade routes, and green energy corridors are also being discussed as part of future development plans.
Local business groups, chambers of commerce, and youth-led startups have expressed hope that the conference will open new doors for partnerships and funding. The provincial government has promised full support and facilitation for credible investors, especially those focusing on community-led, environmentally sustainable projects.
As preparations continue, this conference is being seen as a key moment for Gilgit-Baltistan to step into the spotlight and engage directly with the global investment community. Expectations are high, and all eyes are now on how the region presents its case to the world.
