Gilgit-Baltistan Artist Imran Ullah Hunzai "Ramz" Awarded Tamgha-e-Imtiaz

Imran Ullah Hunzai, a well-known sculptor, poet and musician from Hunza Valley in Gilgit-Baltistan, has been awarded the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, one of the highest civilian awards in Pakistan. The award has been given to him for his long service and valuable work in the field of arts and cultural preservation.

Imran Ullah Hunzai is famous for his skill in stone sculpting, a craft that he has worked hard to revive and improve. His sculptures have been displayed in many important exhibitions in Pakistan and other countries. Most of his work is inspired by the landscapes and culture of Gilgit-Baltistan. He combines local designs with modern ideas, making each piece of art unique.

Besides sculpture, he is also a poet and writes under the name “Ramz.” His poetry talks about culture, heritage and human feelings. He is also a multi-instrumentalist and has been working to promote Burushaski music through his initiative called Hunzai’s Mann Art Studio. This work has helped in keeping the Burushaski language and its music alive for the younger generation.

Recently, Imran Ullah Hunzai also represented Pakistan at the Global Encounters Festival 2025 held in Dubai, UAE. His participation brought international attention to the rich cultural traditions of the region.
